PhD projects

Applications for PhD studentships via the NERC GW4+ doctoral training partnership are now closed. I am always keen to hear from prospective students who are interested in studying greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances, so feel free to get in touch. Recently advertised projects are below.

Fully funded PhD in atmospheric modelling of greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances (Now closed)

A broadly defined PhD project is available to UK/EU students in the area of atmospheric modelling of greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances starting September/October 2019. Applications should have a strong background in physical sciences, computing and/or mathematics (a degree in Chemistry is not required). The student will have the opportunity to work with the international AGAGE project, the UK DECC network, the DARE-UK project and others (see pages in this blog for possible work areas). Please email matt.rigby@bristol.ac.uk with a copy of your CV for further details.

Simulated transport of CFC-11 to the Gosan (square) and Hateruma (circle) measurement stations. The coloured areas show regions where the measured concentrations would be strongly influenced by emissions sources. This information, from the Met Office NAME model, helped us identify new emissions coming from eastern China.
